[VIDEO]Superstars share their wisdom
Valuable advice from artists in the entertainment industry at international level was given to young artists from a disadvantaged background.
Two internationally acclaimed musicians gave up their time to present a workshop at Silverstar to youngsters who aspire to be like them one day.
Nate Butler who is involved in the production of The X Factor (US season 3) and America’s Got Talent, a songwriter, music producer, vocal producer and recording artist visited South Africa to record the first track of his new album with South African star, Anais.
The workshop was offered to youngsters from the Tsogo Sun Arts Academy, which aims to develop the artistic talents of pupils who come from underprivileged backgrounds.
During the workshop both Nate and Anais shared valuable advice on how to succeed in the entertainment industry at an international level.
“Being an artist is like being an entrepreneur. The fame wave is not easy and you need to make your business work – the only way to do that and be successful is to believe in yourself,” Anais said.
“There is always someone else out there who works harder and who is ready to take your place.”

She told the young aspiring artists it can take some time to get recognised and the only way to succeed is to give up on your social life and sleep.
“This is the only formula that works for entrepreneurs and to be successful. You need to work till you get to the point where you can loaf.”
Nate, who helped many artists launch their careers told the youngsters instead of chasing a dream, one needs to give the dream a chase.
“Each one of us is unique and different. We need to carve out our own space and go where the doors are open.”
After having having spoken about their own experiences the youngsters were given the opportunity to showcase their talents to Anais and Nate who then assessed them and provided constructive criticism to each and every performer.

Based on this showcase, two artists were selected to participate in the final round of the Be Your Dream and The New York Film Academy Auditions.
During the final round of these auditions, two artists will be selected and awarded with a full bursary to study at the New York Film Academy.
The only other people to have been awarded these bursaries are the winners of the Miss USA competition.
