Stabbed and robbed by four

Four armed men threatened and assaulted a man before fleeing.

The Kagiso police arrested a 23-year-old suspect on Monday 30 March for alleged attempted murder and robbery in central Kagiso.

Warrant Officer Solomon Sibiya, a police spokesperson said the complainant was busy repairing a vehicle when the suspect and three accomplices arrived at his place, threatening him.

“The suspects caught him as he was trying to flee and started assaulting him,” Sibiya said.

“One of the suspects drew a knife and stabbed him. Another suspect was armed with a firearm and ordered him into their getaway vehicle.”

But when he refused, he was then assaulted and robbed of R2 000 and a Nokia cell phone.”

“The complainant was then rescued by two men known to him.”

Sibiya said the complainant sustained an open wound to the right eye and to his arm. He also sustained injuries to his left arm and upper lip.

“The matter was reported to the police and one suspect was arrested”

A case docket of armed robbery and attempted murder was opened. The suspect is expected to make a brief appearance in the Kagiso Magistrates’ Court soon.
