Footprints lead to suspect hiding under bed

The owner of a guest house saw footprints in the sand leading to his property and investigated.

Footprints led a guest house owner to a suspected burglar – sort of.

Constable Gloria Maswanganye, spokesperson at the Hekpoort Police Station said the complainant saw footprints in the sand leading to his guest house.

At the property he found the window of the guest house broken and he contacted his security company.

When Oestermoed Security arrived, they searched the premises.

“While they were doing their search patrols they found a 24-year-old man hiding under a bed,” said Maswanganye.

“Police were contacted and they arrested the suspect.”

She said it seems nothing was stolen although some cupboards were found to have been opened.

The suspect already made a brief appearance in the Krugersdorp Magistrates’ Court.
