
A 50-year-old father-in-law was arrested after assaulting his son-in-law with a firearm before also firing a shot towards his vehicle.
Constable Gloria Maswangaye, a police spokesperson at the Hekpoort police station said the son-in-law got involved in an argument with his wife that led to the wife returning to her father’s residence.
“When the husband went to visit his wife to resolve their problem, the father-in-law started assaulting him with a firearm to the head and he also inserted the barrel of the firearm into his mouth.
Maswanganye said the the father-in-law then fired one shot towards his son-in-law’s vehicle which damaged the door at the driver’s side.
The man then drove off in the vehicle and reported the matter to the police after which the police investigated.
“The man was arrested and charged with attempted murder. A 38 special revolver with six rounds and an air gun with two rounds were confiscated,” Maswanganye said.
The father-in-law is expected to make a brief appearance in the Krugersdorp Magistrates’ Court.
