Robbery duo apprehended

A man was walking home when he was approached by two men who started assaulting him.

Two Tshepisong robbery suspects aged 32 and 36 were arrested on Monday for allegedly assaulting and robbing a man of his cash at knife point earlier this month.

Warrant Officer Solomon Sibiya, a police spokesperson said the complainant was walking home along the main street of Ebumnandini informal settlement when two unknown men approached him.

Sibiya said one of the suspects was armed with a knife which was used to threaten the complainant.

“The suspects attacked and held the complainant tight, strangling him before taking his cash.”

They allegedly also assaulted and kicked him in the face before fleeing the scene.

“He sustained injuries to the left side of his jaw and right arm and was able to identify one of the suspects,” Sibiya said.

A case had been opened and the police launched an investigation where they caught the two suspects.

The suspects have already made a brief appearance in the Kagiso Magistrates’ Court.
