Two alleged suspects were taken into police custody after an attempted hijacking in the Krugersdorp CBD.
The victim told police that she was inside of her vehicle when she was approached by two unknown male suspects.
“The suspects tried to grab the victim and pull her out of her vehicle when she screamed for help,” tells Constable Tshepiso Mashale, Communications Officer for the Krugersdorp police.
Fortunately for the victim, a police patrol vehicle was nearby at the time of the incident and gave chase after the suspects who fled by foot.
“The victim acted quickly and gave police a description of the suspects and information about the incident.”
The police spotted two suspects matching the victim’s description and closed in on them as they attempted to get away.
“After searching the two, the officers found a jamming device in their possession and took them into custody.”
The suspects were detained at the Krugersdorp police station and are due to appear in the Krugersdorp Magistrates’ Court on account of attempted hijacking and possession of a jamming device.
