A husband, 52, from Rietvallei in Kagiso was arrested after he allegedly killed his wife’s friend with a spade yesterday morning.
Warrant Officer Solomon Sibiya, a police spokesperson said they received a phone call from the wife informing them her husband and the friend is fighting in the yard.
He said when police arrived they found the friend, whom the husband claims to be his wife’s love interest, bleeding from head and upper body injuries.
“The suspect told police the deceased attacked and stoned his windows. When he opened the door to stop him, the deceased started attacking and wounding him with an unknown object.”
Sibiya said the suspect retaliated and tried to defend himself by using a spade.
“The man was lying on the ground with an open wound to the face and bleeding from the back of his head where after he was certified dead on the scene,” Sibiya said.
The husband was arrested and made an appearance in the Kagiso Magistrates’ Court on charges of murder.
