Man swallows drug parcel in escape attempt

Drug buyer tries to swallow three grams of Crystal Meth to avoid being caught.

After alert patrollers from the West Rand Cons Neighbourhood Watch (WRC) witnessed what they believed to be a drug deal taking place, they immediately followed up and made an arrest.

Gary Badenhors witnessed a suspiciously looking man nervously walking up and down a busy street.

Pulling over a short distance away, Badenhors hit the jackpot when he witnessed the drug exchange taking place.

After the transaction had been done, Badenhors followed the buyer who was on foot and confronted him in an open field not far away.

The buyer responded by claiming that he owed the drug dealer money and vowed not to be in possession of any drugs as he refused to reveal the contents of his back pocket.

After the patroller had called back-up as he continued to follow the buyer, who lost his temper with the patroller and refused to talk him when he proceeded to walk away.

The neighbourhood watch members responded to the call out who helped close in on the buyer a short distance from his house.

In a desperate attempt not to be caught the buyer tried to swallow the parcel but was surrounded by Wade Vorster, Rudolph Smith, Francois Hattingh and John Barnardt.

The buyer struggled in his attempt to escape again but spat out the drug parcel as the members apprehended him.

The buyer was detained until the police arrived and was arrested and taken to the police station.
