Win tickets to the sweetest expo in town

Another sweeeet experience awaits Krugersdorpers as the SA Sweet & Snack Expo will open its doors for the public to indulge in at Silverstar.

During the weekend of 22 to 24 May, the SA Sweet & Snack Expo will kick off with an overall theme of The Road with Ginger.

If you are a ginger lover this is the place to be because a ginormous gingerbread house will be assembled.

There also will be a new snack-pairing section with 10 top wine estates to test, sample and to buy from at factory prices in the two-hour daily factory price windows. There will be live competitions and entertainment, an open theatre with interactive demonstrations and talks from top chefs in the industry for sweet lovers and experts alike.

Here’s whats in store at the expo:

Big big gingerbread house

An actual Wendy house sponsored by Custom Cabin will be transformed by Chef Nicolas and his school, who again will show creativity and skill when covering and decorating it with all things sweet and decant into a spectacular show piece of fantasy, bringing the well known story of Hansel and Gretel to life.

The house will be on display during the show, and just maybe the witch on her broom will show up. It will be the perfect place to stock up on sweets, snacks and all that is needed to build your own gingerbread house at home. Come join them in finding the perfect gingerbread man, sample homemade ginger beer and other ginger surprises never thought of before.

Sweet and bubbly competitions

Domaine des Dieux, a boutique wine farm nestled in the foothills close to Hermanus, produces small volumes of superior award-winning wines and is looking for the best ginger pairing sweet or snack to compliment the exquisite taste of their 2009 Claudia Brut Method Cap Classic (MMC). The competition was inspired by the overall theme of this year’s expo. Anyone is welcome to enter for a fee of R80.

The winner will be chosen at noon on Saturday 23 May and will walk away with a case of 2009 Claudia Brut MCC and enjoy the advantages of a five months marketing and promotions campaigne with Domaine des Dieux.
