Generator worth almost R200 thousand taken at gunpoint

The construction site manager found a security guard tied to a gate with a chain and padlock.

Police are still searching for two of three suspects who allegedly robbed a business in Kagiso of a generator.

Warrant Officer Solomon Sibiya, a police spokesperson said the construction site manager arrived at the site on Wednesday 3 June where he found a security guard locked to a gate with a chain and padlock.

The guard told him that three unknown men arrived and pointed a firearm in his direction and gained entrance to the property where they allegedly took a 5.6kva Honda generator worth around R180 000.

“A case was opened where after police went to investigate. During the investigation one suspect was arrested at his home in Tshepisong,” said Sibiya.

He will soon make a brief appearance in the Kagiso Magistrates’ Court facing business robbery charges.

The police are appealing to members of the community to help them in tracking down the remaining two suspects or to phone Detective Sergeant Frans Mosome on 082 696 6999 if they notice an unfamiliar Honda generator.
