Police are concerned about the ongoing theft of trailers and motorcycles that has been going on lately in the Krugersdorp area.
Brigadier Dalipkimar Baijnath, station commander at the Krugersdorp Police Station said he is alarmed by the increase of reports of this nature during the past month.

He provided the following precautionary measures to help prevent this from happening.
• Keep your trailer/ motorcycle, wherever possible, out of sight from the general public. The best option would be where it can be locked up in a garage.
• If that is not possible, the best option then will be to keep the trailer or motorcycle out of view of the general public, secure it with a chain and lock. It is also advisable that the vehicle are attached and locked onto a fixed structure.
• Never leave the motorcycle keys in the ignition, even for a short while as thieves are opportunists and will see it as a great opportunity.
• Always keep the registration number and chassis number of your trailer or motorcycle in a safe place, in the event of a theft.
• If possible refrain from lending out or borrowing your trailer to someone else, that is the most common way in which trailers disappears.
