Police pounce on criminals

Police are happy to report that they have had some great achievements during the past month.

A team, consisting of detectives and uniform personnel, were very active in the combating of serious crime in the Krugersdorp Cluster during the past month.

Captain Appel Ernst, a police spokesperson said police have had some great achievements.

A firearm that was stolen in Ukomaas in KwaZulu-Natal two years ago and was recently discovered in Kagiso when a group of suspects was arrested. In a separate case a stolen revolver, reportedly stolen in Johannesburg, was retrieved and a suspect was arrested who was unable to provide a licence for the firearm.

A further two suspects have been arrested for being in possession of suspected stolen jewellery taken during a housebreaking in Kenmare.

Ernst said the jewellery was confiscated and the owner was able to positively identify it.

“The suspect has already appeared in the Krugersdorp Magistrates’ Court and a possibility of linking the two suspects with more cases in the Krugersdorp area is still being investigated.”

Police managed to arrest two more suspects for a house robbery in Wentworth Park that happened in March this year.

Ernst said the members of the team are applauded for their dedication and perseverance in tracking down suspects and recovering stolen property.
