Rural school’s choirs take first position at Eisteddfod

Both groups obtained a first position in all three sections in the district eliminations.

Phatudi Primary School choirs took part in the South African School Choral Eisteddfod for the first time under the baton of music teacher Siphiwe Nxumalo.

Siphiwe is also the School Governing Body chairperson. Teacher ME Tselapedi conducted the Grade 1 to 3s while Siphiwe conducted the Grade 4 to 6s.

Both groups obtained a first position in all three sections in the district eliminations in Mogale City during the competition in May.

“As the chairperson of the school with 25 years’ experience in teaching music at high school level, I am very excited. I believe our children are our greatest treasure. They are our future. Those who abuse them tear at the fabric of our society and weaken our nation,” Siphiwe said.
