Mother and toddler (2) killed

A woman and her two-year-old child died after being hit by a vehicle on Peter Road in Ruimsig this morning 17 June.

Russel Meiring, an ER24 spokesperson said paramedics who arrived on scene found the two lifeless bodies in the middle of the road and the vehicle a few metres away.

“On assessment, paramedics discovered that both the mother and child had sustained fatal injuries in the collision. Unfortunately nothing more could be done for the patients and they were declared dead at the scene,” he said.

The driver of the vehicle fortunately did not sustain any injuries.

“It is understood that the driver of the vehicle failed to notice the pedestrians crossing the road.”

Local authorities were on scene for further investigations.
