Man left for dead

Police closed in on suspects who brutally assaulted and robbed a man on the side of the road.

Two Muldersdrift policemen closed in on suspects following a brutal assault and robbery.

Constables Mashaba and Bambiso arrested five suspects on Saturday 20 June for armed robbery.

“The victim allegedly was walking home along Beyers Naudé Drive in Rietfontein when a vehicle suddenly stopped in front of him,” explained Hitler Ngwenya, Muldersdrift Police spokesperson.

He said the occupants in the vehicle demanded money and cellphones from the victim.

According to police the suspects assaulted the victim badly and left him for dead. They fled after the robbery.

The victim luckily was able to identify the suspects and with swift reaction from the two constables, they were arrested.

“Lieutenant Colonel KD Seabi, the station commander, applauded the good work by the policemen,” Ngwenya said.

The suspects were charged and made a brief appearance in the Krugersdorp Magistrates’ Court.
