Mobile library for local school
Nooitgedacht Primary School principal smiles happily after receiving a new library.
The Competence Centre at the Southern African-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry donated a mobile library to Nooitgedacht Primary School.
“Without the ability to read or write, many children start life at a disadvantage. They are denied their basic rights and are forced to settle and accept whatever life hands them,” commented Cordelia Siegert, project manager for Competence Centre: Corporate Social Responsibility.
Cordelia found it sad that most of these schools also are located in underprivileged communities where the need for basic services often outweighs the need for education.
The Competence Centre believes it is the duty of the community and other partners, including the business community, to unite and work together to meet the educational needs of these schools.
It was all smiles when Cordelia handed over the mobile library to Hermann Overbeeck, the principal of Nooitgedacht Primary School.
