Arrested for selling illicit cigarettes

An anonymous tip-off sends the Flying Squad in the right direction.

Information from the public led a specialised team to find illicit cigarettes.

A 28-year-old suspect was arrested in June for the possession of these goods.

It is alleged that an anonymous tip-off was sent to a member of the Flying Squad about a man selling these cigarettes, which led to a successful arrest.

The Flying Squad found the suspect along with the cigarettes he allegedly sold to the public.

The suspect was arrested and detained at the Krugersdorp Police Station where a case was opened.

“The suspect is due to appear in the Krugersdorp Magistrates’ Court later this week,” Sergeant Tshepiso Mashale, spokesperson for the Krugersdorp Police said.
