Hekpoort Police Station arrested a 23-year-old man for driving under the influence on Tuesday 30 June.
Constable Gloria Maswanganye, a police spokesperson said police were busy with their routine patrols when they came across a vehicle which drove away the moment they noticed the police van.
“Police followed the car and after stopping the vehicle they saw the driver drinking beer which led to arresting him and taking him to Dr Yusuf Dadoo Hospital to draw some blood.”
Maswanganye said the suspect was then charged for driving under the influence and will be appearing in the Krugersdorp Magistrates’ Court soon.
