Monument follow-home robbers cornered; arrested
A 65-year-old woman was followed home after withdrawing an undisclosed amount of cash to pay her day workers.
An undisclosed amount of cash was taken during a follow-home incident in Piet Joubert Street, Monument on Friday.
Three suspects is expected to make a brief appearance in the Krugersdorp Magistrates’ Court today for armed robbery and attempted murder after they were chased by police and cornered in Munsieville.
Sergeant Thsepiso Mashale, a police spokesperson said a woman, 65, went to a local shopping centre to withdraw cash so that she can pay her day workers.
“When she arrived home she noticed a black Golf Volkswagen behind her. A woman and two men approached her and then grabbed her handbag from her.”

The woman tried to fight back, but a suspect fired a shot before fleeing the scene.
Mashale said fortunately someone saw what had happened and followed the vehicle.
“While following them he saw a police vehicle and informed them of the incident. When the suspects saw the police they increased speed.”
The police gave chase and cornered the suspects in a street in Munsieville.
Police managed to recover a firearm, live ammunition and cash.
