Another mugging near Home Affairs
ID photographers lure the public into an alleyway, and after taking the photos, mug them, according to another victims' experience.

The second victim came forward this week to warn others of the suspected carefully crafted criminal activities next to the Home Affairs office.
Tinus Venter went to the Department of Home Affairs on 29 June around 4pm and needed ID photos.
Tinus explained he always goes to a shop next to the Home Affairs building to have ID photos taken, so he never suspected anything out of the ordinary when three men led him through an alleyway to take his picture.
“There were three men, including the photographer,” Tinus said.
“After taking the photos, they charged me R160. I gave it to them and they even asked for change for a R200 note. I gave them two R100 notes.”
Tinus still did not suspect anything.
“One of the men then jokingly acted like he was mugging me. I went along, but suddenly felt a hand in my jacket pocket where my phone is.”
The man took Tinus’ cellphone and ran away.
Shocked, Tinus told the other men what had happened but they only shrugged, saying there was nothing they could do.
Feeling helpless, Tinus went across the road to the Krugersdorp Police Station and opened a case.
Tinus said it is strange that they only took his cellphone but left the wallet they obviously knew he had.
