Thousands robbed from local tuckshop
The suspect jumped over the counter and demanded money to be handed over to him.
Two days after a tuckshop owner of Rietfontein in Muldersdrift was robbed of thousands of rands he identified the suspect,
Warrant Officer Hitler Ngwenya, a police spokesperson said it is alleged that the suspect entered his tuckshop whereafter he pointed a firearm in his direction.
“The suspect demanded money from him before he jumped over the counter and searched the victim who was at that time very shocked and surprised about the situation.”
Ngwenya said an amount estimated to be around R5 000 was taken before the suspect fled the scene on foot.
“The tuckshop owner identified him at the Video Centre Informal Settlement and informed the police which led to his arrest.”
The suspect will be charged and is expected to briefly appear in the Krugersdorp Magistrates’ Court soon.
