For the first time in its history, Alma Mater Academy has more six-year-olds running around than its classes can maintain.
So, a third Grade One class was opened to accommodate for their growing number of pupils.
Honestly, the children do not really run around. Instead, a group of well-mannered and interested children all sit at their desks and attentively listen to what the teacher wants to teach them.

“I have such a superd class this year,” Nelmarie Verwey, 22, the young English speaking children’s teacher and Head of Department said.
Almarina Oosthuizen, the Afrikaans Grade One class teacher, compliments the syllabus, Cambridge International Examinations, for giving her the room to be a truly creative teacher.
“You can think outside the box and give the children quality education.”

“There is a lot more to education than just academic work. You have to give children the necessary skills to succeed in life. We strive to develop confident and responsible pupils, equipped for success in the modern world,” she explains.
On 8 September, a new Grade R class will also be opened due to an increasing demand for international education.
If you want to apply your child for enrolment into Alma Mater you can contact Ms Walker on 011 660-7567 or email edna@almainternational.co.za for pre-primary and primary school entries. Both Afrikaans and English students are welcome.
