Held at gunpoint after cutting down trees

A Magaliesburg resident holds another at gunpoint and shortly thereafter, gave himself over to police.

A 43-year-old suspect handed himself over to Magaliesburg Police after he pointed a firearm at another man.

“According to the complainant, the suspect held him at gunpoint because he was cutting down trees at a nearby veld,” police spokesperson, Constable Rebecca Phiti said.

The man who was pointed at with a gun immediately retreated and opened a case at the police station. The suspect was arrested by Warrant Officer Tshielo shortly after the complainant opened a case against him.

“As the suspect is already arrested, he will shortly appear in the Magaliesburg Court,” Phiti said.

Phiti urges members of the community to report any kind of crime, no matter the urgency or person involved.

“Through reporting all criminal activity you might be exposed to, we can minimise crime in the area.”
