Two hijacked vehicles recovered in under an hour

Two hijackings took place in broad daylight which sent CPF and security companies on a high speed chase.

A vehicle was recovered minutes after it was hijacked at the Anthos Centre (Monument Checkers centre) in Krugersdorp this morning, 5 August.

It is believed a Courier IT vehicle was parked close to the Woolworths Food entrance in the parking area when a hijacker jumped in the vehicle and instructed the driver to speed off.

The passenger of the vehicle then noticed the vehicle was gone after making his delivery at approximately 10.30am.

The hijacker directed the driver to Resnick Street in Factoria where  he allegedly robbed the driver of 10 cellphones before fleeing the scene in a black Audi.

Armed responses by security companies Dowry, Delta Blue and Thompsons together with members of the Sector 4 and 8’s Community Policing Forum rushed to the scene where the vehicle was left.

However, nearly an hour later another courier vehicle was hijacking in Noordheuwel by occupants of an alleged silver VW GTI travelling on Voortrekker Road.

After a pursuit by Dowry and Sector 4 and 8’s CPF the vehicle was found abandoned in Glen Street, Kenmare. The contents of the vehicle was stolen and the vehicle’s keys were found in the back of the Ram courier van.

The courier was delivering a parcel in Noordheuwel when it was hijacked.

This is the third hijacking and attempted hijacking in Krugersdorp since yesterday.
