Murdered over a beer

A man was stabbed to death after refusing to share a drink with the suspected murderer.

After refusing to have a glass of beer with an acquaintance, a 35-year-old victim was stabbed to death at Orient Hills informal settlement.

On 2 August police were called to the scene and arrested the suspect.

“According to onlookers, the suspect wanted to have a drink with the deceased. The deceased refused,” Constable Rebecca Phithi, spokesperson for Magaliesburg Police, said.

Upon his refusal, the suspect stabbed the victim in the chest with a knife.

The 38-year-old suspect will appear soon at Krugersdorp Magistrates’ Court on the charges of murder.
