Brutally attacked for his cellphone

A man loses three litres of blood after being brutally attacked for his cellphone.

A man had a brush with death after being brutally attacked on his way home last week.

The man, an employee at The Cradle of Hope, was on his way home when he was attacked by robbers on Friday, 7 August, who took his cellphone and money.

The robbers stabbed him several times, leaving him for dead, before fleeing with his personal belongings.

Two of his main arteries were cut during the attack and the worker was rushed to Baragwanath Hospital in a critical condition.

“He turned around at death’s door,” Melodie van Brakel, founder of the Cradle of Hope, said.

The worker lost a total of three litres of blood from the injuries he sustained during the attack and is still very weak.

After being stabilised the worker was transferred to a Krugersdorp hospital where he is still recovering.

“He is the most precious and wonderful person and a gentleman and wouldn’t harm a fly. He is so lucky to be alive. We ask that the community pray for him as he is still very weak.”

Due to his injuries, his clothes were drenched in blood.

The Cradle of Hope is asking if anyone has any old clothes in a size Large/ X-Large which can be donated for the worker who is currently recovering in hospital.

For more information or to drop off clothes contact The Cradle on 011 660 4623.
