[PHOTOS + VIDEO] Women reminded of their resilience

Motivational speaker and folk rock singer collaborate for an inspirational Women's Day event.

Drinks, buffet and good entertainment was the order of the day for Silverstar’s Women’s Day celebration.

Every women with a black rewards card were invited and encouraged to bring a special someone along to the unique collaboration with renowned motivational speaker Kate Emmerson and singing sensation Louise Carver.

Kate spoke to around 500 women about clearing emotional and literal clutter in your life. Louise Carver, South African folk rock singer and songwriter, then performed some of her singles, including Empty Fantasy and Home.

Women’s Day, a day commemorating the 1956 march of approximately 20 000 women to the Union Buildings in Pretoria to petition against the country’s pass laws, meant something else for each individual women attending.

“Today it is much easier for women to express their opinions. Our voices are heard,” Renee van Wyngaard said.

Her mother, Christene Beeby, added that being and feeling like a real lady is also when your husband treats you well and how your deserve to be treated.

Kate, after giving away 10 Soulstice Day Spa vouchers, went on to explain what clutter means to her and gave every women her book, Clearing Your Clutter, and some new insight on how to cut the strings that pull you down.

“Clutter is anything, or anyone, who no longer serves you.”

Between figuring what your clutter is, making new friends and prickling your taste buds with chocolate brownies and sparkling wine, Kate and Louise spoiled the women with a relaxed and entertaining Women’s Day afternoon that will serve as a reminder of how special women are to each other.
