[VIDEO] Caden: “thank you Krugersdorp”
Krugersdorp's brave little fighter Caden Slabbert is doing well and being silly on camera.
Caden Slabbert, the brave eight-year-old boy who survived being hit by a brick in April, would like to thank his friends, family and even strangers for all their support.
After months of recovering in the Netcare Clinton Hospital and later in rehab, Caden was finally discharged two weeks ago after a long, and often hurdled, road to recovery.

Caden’s mom, Andriëtte Cooper, invited the News to meet the little fighter at Monument Primary where he was undergoing extra classes.
Caden’s Grade 1 teacher voluntarily offered to give him revision classes once a week to prepare him for returning to school permanently, hopefully next year.
Currently Caden is receiving homeschooling to help him in his recovery to a normal life again.
“We are getting there. He is almost back on an eight-year-old’s level,” Andriëtte said.
An evaluation by one of his psychologists suggest that Caden will recover fully and fly through mainstream schooling.
There is however a lot of revision work to be done and things that will need to be relearned.
“He is doing extremely well.”
Caden is still waiting to undergo surgery to replant the piece of his skull which was crushed during the incident when he was hit by a brick on his head while travelling in the car with his father and sister on the N12.
Although the wound is healing well, it is not yet 100 per cent completely healed, hence the surgery is still on hold. Caden has been without the piece of his skull for three-and-a-half months now.
The school has given Caden an open invitation to visit the school anytime he wishes.
“Caden really miss his friends and teacher.”
Caden’s family is planning a very special homecoming party for him after he undergoes the surgery and has fully recovered.
The costs involved in his recovery and all the medical care thus far is over R1 million and has been fully covered by their medical aid.

“It is so lovely having him back home. He quickly adapted back into the household and is already testing his boundaries and doing what all little boys like to do best, play rough.”
Caden did not at first know what happened to him, but when his mother explained, he simply replied, “If I can see that man, I would tell him to come to church with me”.
Andriëtte would also like to thank each and every person who has prayed for Caden the last couple of months.
