A 43-year-old man was cornered and arrested in Tshepisong for allegedly raping a nine-year-old boy.
An investigation was launched after a complaint was laid and the Kagiso police managed to apprehend the suspect.
The complainant, the boy’s grandmother, alleged that she was at her resident on 25 July when the boy arrived later than usual.
“She questioned her grandson for coming home late but he just kept quiet until she threatened to punish him. The boy then told his grandmother that an unknown man from Tshepisong West sent him to a tuck shop to buy cigarettes. When he returned from the tuck shop the suspect took him to his residence where he raped him. The boy further told his grandmother that it was not the first time the suspect had raped him,” Kagiso police station spokesperson, Warrant Officer Solomon Sibiya, said.
The suspect was arrested at his residence and is detained at the Kagiso police station. A case docket of rape was opened and the suspect will appear in the Kagiso Magistrates’ Court.
