Sibusiso Mfazwe received 10 years imprisonment for the murder of Sibonisani Mpi.
The 24-year-old was sentenced by the Krugersdorp Magistrates’ Court for the murder of Sibonisani on 28 July.
It is believed that Sibusiso and the deceased were at Solly’s tavern in Smokedown drinking on 4 March when a quarrel erupted between the two.
The quarrel ensued and led to Sibusiso stabbing the deceased multiple times in his chest and back and police were summoned to the crime scene where the victim was already declared dead.
“Detective Constable Matshele was assigned to investigate the matter and did exceptionally well as he spent sleepless nights trying to solve this murder, through his intensive investigation he managed to get witnesses and eventually arrested the perpetrator,” Tarlton police spokesperson, Constable Lucky Matome said.
“The Station Commander of Tarlton police Leutenant Colonel AM Molefi applauded Constable Matshele, his witnesses and the team from National Prosecuting Authority for securing this conviction. He further said that removing Sibusiso from society was a great achievement for the community of Tarlton,” Matome concluded.
