Hijack syndicate strikes again

Another courier van was hijacked and recovered in Krugersdorp after hijackers cleaned out the van of its goods.

Another courier van was hijacked this morning and hours later it was found abandoned in a street in Kenmare.

Members of Sector 8’s Community Policing Forum (CPF) alongside Dowry Security received word about the hijacked van and went in pursuit of it.

The DHL van was found in Elphine Street after it was hijacked this morning, 26 August in Luipaardsvlei.

A vehicle’s tracking device was activated around 9.08am.

The driver of the van along with the crew were taken on a detour and dropped somewhere in Randburg before the hijackers made their way back to Krugersdorp.

CPF and Dowry searched the area and follow-up on a tip off which led them to the empty abandoned van.

Residents of the area claim the van had been parked there for a while but did not take note of it because they thought it was for a delivery.

It is believed that the tracking company could not locate the vehicle and was still searching for the van at the time it was discovered by the CPF and Dowry.

Police and DHL representatives are currently making their way to the scene where the van was found.
