Mayor disappoints youth
Youth of Krugersdorp is planning to toi-toi after the Mayor made promises he did not keep.
Local resident and upcoming artist Dr Love feels Mogale City’s Mayor is letting down the youth of Krugersdorp because there is a big lack in youth development projects.
He claimed he has met with Executive Mayor Councillor Koketso Calvin Seerane to discuss and plan an upcoming event for the youth, which the Mayor agreed to support.
“When I go to his office, he is never there. I have not heard a word from the Mayor again,” said a disappointed Dr Love.
The event aimed at the youth was planned for 3 October where Krugersdorp hopefuls would be given the opportunity to partake in a Mr and Miss Youth Against Drugs pageant.
Dr Love, who is the mastermind behind the pageant, contacted two talent agents to attend the event to scout for upcoming stars in Krugersdorp.
“We want to uplift youngsters and provide hope for a brighter future. Now the youth is disappointed since the planning of this project is at a standstill owing to the non-cooperation from the municipality.”
Dr Love is appealing to the community for support in this upliftment initiative.
He claims the municipality has funds available for youth development but it is reserved for Kagiso only.
“The community was looking forward to this event. The future of South Africa is in the hands of the next generation. It is important to establish a next generation who can grow out of the mindset of poverty and help find a new way of life,” Mitchel Lomberg, a member of the community said.

The News contacted Nkosana Zali, spokesperson for Mogale City Local Municipality for comment regarding the project, but none has been forthcoming.
