Man dies in Sivewright Street hijacking
A man was left for dead after allegedly being hijacked last night.
A 52-year-old man died after being shot in an alleged hijacking incident in the crime hot spot, Wentworth Park, last night.
The man was allegedly on his way home from visiting friends in Sivewright Street, where he was allegedly shot by the hijacker. Onlookers said they saw another person enter the man’s silver Opel Corsa and left him to die next to the road. When and exactly where the man was shot is still unclear.
Members of the Sector 4 Community Policing Forum (CPF) were called to the scene at about 8pm where they found the man seriously injured with a gunshot wound.
The CPF’s First Aid Responders tended to the man, but he eventually passed away on the scene.
The police, along with other first aid respondents were also on the scene where he was taken away by ambulance.
The police are currently investigating the man’s death.
