The 2015 matric farewell season officially has kicked off.
Last night the News attended the first matric farewell of many to come.
First up was Hoërskool Noordheuwel’s farewell at Usambara Lodge. These matriculants pulled out all the stops. They arrived in style and wowed the curious crowd who welcomed them at the red carpet.
Vintage and luxurious sports cars were popular choices on the night.
A group of Harley Davidson motorcycles also made their appearance with a showstopping entrance. However, it quickly was outshone by a pupil who arrived in an ambulance – with emergency lights, sirens and all.
The ambulance was led to the entrance by a response vehicle.
Suddenly paramedics jumped out and opened the ambulance to take out the bed with the ‘patient’ on it.
She took off the white blanket and got off the bed in a blue and white dress.
Television star, Ruan Wessels, known for his role in Binnelanders were also among the pupils who attended the farewell last night.

Balloons also seemed to be popular this year as couples released some into the air as the made their way to the red carpet.
But the most bizarre vehicle at the event was a young man who arrived in a go-cart that had to be pushed.

The News will be covering various matric farewells over the next few weeks and will upload galleries to the website on the night to showcase the glitz, glamour and bizarre of the season.
