The suspect who was wounded fatally during a scuffle yesterday (30 September) has been identified by a family member.
A scuffle broke out between an EPR reaction officer and a suspect after the suspect had tried to take the officer’s gun.

The brother asked the News where he could find the deceased’s body.
He told the News he had become worried when his brother did not come home the previous night and was terrified when he saw the photo of his brother on Facebook.
It is believed the deceased has been sentenced for a similar offence about two years ago.
Rumour has it the deceased lived with other people metres from the premises where he was shot by a reaction officer in the scuffle.
According to Captain Appel Ernst, Randfontein Police spokesperson, “On Wednesday at approximately 4am a family in the Chancliff area was awoken by the sound of a window breaking and footsteps in their house. The 40-year-old resident and her husband allegedly investigated and found three unknown male suspects in the house. The husband immediately locked the bedroom door and activated the panic alarm. It is further alleged an EPR Security reaction officer immediately responded and on arrival he was confronted by three suspects outside the residence. The officer tried to apprehend the suspects and fired two warning shots. Two suspects fled, while the third allegedly grabbed the reaction officer, which led to them wrestling for the gun. A shot went off and hit the suspect in the upper body.”
He attempted to flee, but collapsed and was declared dead when paramedics arrived.
Krugersdorp Police are investigating a housebreaking case and an inquest docket.
