Hit-and-run accident leaves one dead

A Lancet scooter rider passed away in hospital after a hit-and-run incident on Paardekraal Drive.

A man died following a hit-and-run incident on Paardekraal Drive last Friday. He was riding a scooter transporting samples for Lancet Laboratories. It is not known yet what kind of vehicle had caused his fatal injuries.

Sectors 4 and 8 Community Policing Forum members and paramedics responded to the call-out to the scene of the accident on 3 October.

“Netcare 911 paramedics found the man lying on the roadway, critically injured. They stabilised him and airlifted him to hospital on board the Netcare 1 Helicopter,” Chris Botha, Netcare 911 media liaison officer said.

On arrival on scene CPF members found that the patient had been transported to hospital already.

Botha said the exact details of the cause of the accident and preceding events will be investigated by police.

The News received word that the driver of the scooter died in hospital the following day.
