Suspects turn on each other after stabbing

Two men were arrested, another injured.

Two men were arrested and one hospitalised after a stabbing at a supermarket this weekend.

On Friday at around 4.30pm during peak traffic, Sector 7 Community Policing Forum (CPF) members went after a suspect who stabbed another man at the supermarket.

Netcare911 was already on scene when the CPF arrived.

They were given a detailed description of the suspect and immediately started looking for him in the area.

Two men, one of them allegedly the victim’s brother, indicated to the patrollers the direction in which the suspect was headed. They soon found him in the veld next to Robert Broom Drive with the bloodied knife in his hand.

The suspect allegedly stabbed the victim for an unknown reason.

When the CPF members brought the suspect back to the scene of the stabbing, various eye-witnesses positively identified him.

But the victim’s brother had more to say.

“They have weapons as well,” he allegedly told the members.

The suspect denied that he had a gun, but pointed out the man who did carry the gun. The CPF members quickly apprehend him and he pointed out where the magazine and the gun were.

Sector 7 CPF members found these items at different locations.

After the second victim had been arrested, police arrived at the scene and arrested both men.

The victim is recovering from stab wounds to his head and his stomach.

It is not clear yet why the victim was stabbed or how these men know each other. It also has not been established whether the weapons could be linked with other crimes.
