Cousins arrested for granny’s death
Two cousins and acquaintances were arrested for the murder of their 69-year-old grandmother.
Kagiso Police arrested two cousins and two acquaintances for the alleged murder of their grandmother.
Police arrested the two cousins aged 24 and 33 after their 69-year-old grandmother was found dead in Rietvallei in Kagiso.
Immediately after receiving a complaint, police went to investigate the scene where they found the body of the deceased lying on the bed.
“It is believed the deceased and her 11-year-old granddaughter were asleep in a back room when three suspects broke down the door. They allegedly went to the deceased’s bed where she was asleep and strangled her before fleeing the scene,” said Warrant Officer Solomon Sibiya, Kagiso Police spokesperson.
In the morning the granddaughter reported the matter to neighbours, who then informed the police about the incident.
The following day police managed to arrest two more suspects.
”The suspects aged 19 and 21 were arrested in the Johannesburg area,” Sibiya said.
After being arrested the suspects were detained at the Kagiso Police Station. A case of murder has been opened and the suspects are expected to make a brief appearance in the Kagiso Magistrates’ Court.
