Regular school searches before matric exams

The police are actively trying to prevent crimes taking place at shools.

Magaliesburg Police have vowed to ensure the safety of matric pupils in the area as their finals examinations approach.

“We want to make sure pupils are safe around studying parameters,” Constable Rebecca Phithi, police spokesperson said.

According to Phithi regular searches are conducted at schools. And when items are brought to school that are not needed for revisions or tests, the police confiscate it.

“Police do random and regular searches at different schools and boarding facilities during the day and night,” she explained.

The police also talk to the pupils about the importance of safety while conducting searches.

“We address different crimes and explain to them why it is against the law,” Phithi concluded.
