In court for stealing chickens
One suspect was arrested for stealing 50 chickens.
A suspect was arrested for stealing chickens to the value of R5 000.
Hekpoort police arrested the suspect at the Nulaid Farm in Hartebeesfontein for stealing 50 chickens on 8 October at around 10am.
The previous day, police received a complaint from the 37-year-old owner who reported that his business premises had been broken into.
“The coop’s lock was broken and somewhat 50 chickens were stolen,” Constable Gloria Maswanganye, Hekpoort Police’s Communication and Liaison Officer said.
Police quickly jumped into action and followed up on information which led them to Shamburg.
Along with the complainant, police found people busy slaughtering the chickens.
“The complainant confirmed that it was his chickens and one female foreign national, 47, was arrested while her two accomplices ran away. Police are busy searching for other suspects.”
The arrested suspect has since made a brief appearance in court.
