[VIDEO] School targeted by alleged druggies – twice

CCTV footage emerges of alleged druggies stealing the gate motors at a school – twice in one week.

A local primary school had its gate motors stolen twice in one week by a group of alleged drug abusers.

Laerskool Krugersdorp-Noord was first targeted on 20 October when two males and a female broke into the school’s premises at 3am that morning and stole the motor of the main gate.

Four days later, the same group returned and stole the motor at the gate near the sports field at around 6am.

CCTV footage shows the group successfully stealing the motors in under 45 minutes which includes getting into the property and disconnecting the motors before fleeing.

In the first incident a black vehicle was used as a getaway car and in the second incident a different black vehicle was used.

The footage also shows the suspects waiting around for a few minutes after disconnecting the motors to make sure the coast is clear before jumping into the vehicles and fleeing the scene.

One of the gate motors is valued at approximately R10 500.

The News met with the school who confirmed the identity of one of the suspects and insisted that a criminal case had been opened after rumours were posted on a Facebook page that the perpetrators were going to bet let off the hook.

The school assured the News they are not backing down and will proceed with the case.

It is believed the theft could be drug related as the perpetrators are allegedly drug users.
