Five foreigners rob man at intersection

A man was left with only his shirt and pants on at an intersection with his vehicle after he was robbed by five aggressive foreign nationals and an alleged prostitute.

Andre van der Westhuizen was on his way home when he allegedly was approached by five armed Nigerian nationals at the Windsor Road and Paardekraal Drive intersection.

As he attempted to cross the intersection he suddenly saw his bakkie surrounded by a group of men who pointed a 9mm gun to his window and instructed him to open his door.

Immediately Andre was pulled from the driver seat and asked where his money was.

After explaining that he did not have cash on him the group took his cellphone, wedding ring, watch, gold chain and necklace.

When Andre tried to fight back, he was hit with the gun at the back in his neck and kicked in his ribs by three of the men while the other two started ransacking his bakkie.

They again asked for money which he replied to that he did not have any on him.

The men then took his bankcard from his wallet. With a gun pointed to his head, the men asked him for the pin code.

“I gave them my pin code, I was not going to try and lie with a gun pointed at my head,” Andre said.

They then continued assaulting Andre and stripping him of his shoes, socks, glasses and hat before making a run for it to a parked vehicle on the other side of the intersection.

The five then climbed into a silver Opel Corsa Lite, with tinted windows and black rims and fled.

“As they climbed into the Corsa, I saw a young girl with brown hair in the vehicle, as they drove off,” Andre recalled.

Andre and his family members went to the Krugersdorp police station shortly after the incident to open a case. The next morning Andre received an sms stating that R3 700 was withdrawn from his account at a garage near to Luipaard Street.
