Arrested with house breaking implements

Police member follows up on a tip-off and quickly arrests a suspect.

A police officer from Hekpoort followed up on a complaint of alleged house breaking and arrested the suspect after reacting swiftly.

The 39-year-old male suspect was taken into police custody for possession of house breaking implements about 6.20am in Weldevreden, Hekpoort on 1 November.

“The officer alleges that he received information from a member of the community stating that there was a man who was busy trying to cut open the Vodacom container at Weldevreden near the informal settlement,” Hekpoort Police Station spokesperson, Constable Gloria Maswanganye said.

The member then rushed to the scene where he found the man in possession of implements that can be used in committing house breaking.

The suspect was arrested and detained at Krugersdorp police cells.

The suspect made a brief appearance in court the following day.
