Two arrested for reckless driving

Police warn motorists this upcoming festive season to rather not drink and drive.

Kagiso police arrested two suspects following a collision in Swanieville’s main road.

Two suspects aged 28 and 45 were arrested for reckless driving at 8pm on 8 November.

Upon the arrival of the traffic officers at the scene it was established that both drivers were also under the influence of alcohol.

As no serious injuries were reported at the scene, the two drivers were immediately arrested and detained at Kagiso police station.

The drivers were charged with reckless and negligent driving and have both appeared briefly before the Kagiso court.

“The police urge persons to refrain from consuming alcohol before or during driving. The local authorities will be clamping down on driving infringements, especially when a person drives under the influence of liquor, during the festive season,” Kagiso police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Solomon Sibiya warned.
