Christmas fun for mentally handicapped kids

The annual gift day was successful.

Another Christmas tree project by AARD Mining Equipment resulted in song, dance and laughter at Itireleng School for Severely Mentally Handicapped.

On 4 December AARD employees treated the school’s children with personal hygiene parcels and even McDonald’s Happy Meals. A clown also was invited to entertain them.

The pupils waited in line for their gifts.

In return the pupils entertained their guests by singing traditional songs, doing a gumboot dance and playing traditional drums.

“We have pledged to become more involved at Itireleng.

“We want to give back to the community as we strive to do every year,” Cisco Schoeman, AARD logistics manager told the News.

Olga Molefe, school principal explained to the pupils, aged no older than 24, that they should be thankful “because you are loved, even by strangers”.
