R1 million of booze stolen with hijacked truck

The stolen goods were transported by a hijacked vehicle.

On Christmas Eve, stolen liquor to the value of an estimated R1 million was found at Kgomotso liquor store.

A truck carrying these goods was hijacked in Kempton Park by two men, aged 31 and 37, that same day.

“The suspects agreed to take police officers to where they sold the stolen liqior,” police spokesperson, Constable Lucky Matome, said.

“The investigation took the officers to Kgomotso liquor store in Tarlton were more evidence was found,” he said.

The 42-year-old man that was found at the store could not give a reasonable explanation for how the liqour ended up in his possession and he was therefore arrested.

The man is expected to appear before the Krugersdorp Magistrate’s Court soon.

The Station Commander of Tarlton police station, Lieutenant Colonel Cristina Tsoaedi, said that teamwork between police members always pays off.
