[PHOTOS] Khosa cricketers ready for season
The local cricket club is practising hard after coming second in the 50 over competition.
On a cloudy Tuesday (19 January) afternoon, a group of cricketers were batting and bowling with one goal in mind – winning the upcoming Premier League Time matches.
The 2015/2016 season has been successful overall, said Khosa cricket head coach André Botha.
André is a South African-born former Irish cricketer. He played 55 matches for Ireland, including the 2005 ICC Trophy and the European Championship in 2004 and 2006.
“During the five seasons I have coached here, the club has grown immensely,” he said.
The club started in the B League, but the teams have worked to get into the A League. The President (second) side came second against the University of Johannesburg during the Premier League 50 over competition.
“The club teams, except for one, all placed in the top three in the Gauteng League,” André said.
The club will play a home game on 31 January at Khosa Sports Club.
