New school supplies a gift of kindness
Six children were given a bag with school necessities by members of the Evangelical Lutheran Church.
It was a Sunday like no other.
Six young faces were welcomed at the Evangelical Lutheran Church Parish in Munsieville. As a project by The Prayer Men’s League, these children were given brand new quality school wear.
“We identified needy children within the community and decided to help them with a pair of socks, a jersey and school shoes. I am also a teacher at the local Diphalane Primary School,” Pastor Nuvaraidzi Dube, who gave the sermon of the day, said.
“Those in need were not necessarily part of the church. We just decided to help them,” he said.

This generosity is part of the annual Prayer Men’s League project that they fund from their own pockets. The league’s chairperson, David Moalusi, said the church has a social responsibility towards the community.
“We have to remain in touch with the community by helping where we can. We decided to give them socks, shoes and a jersey because winter time is normally a very uncomfortable time for these children.”
One of the lucky recipients of the supplies was eight-year-old Tumi Nyide. Tumi is also a pupil at Diphalane Primary School.
Tumi, along with other two more children, attended the service that Sunday and sat on the benches singing along to the praise music. Tumi held her parcel tightly throughout the entire service.

When she was asked if she was happy about the gift, she simply smiled, nodded and squeezed the plastic bag a little tighter against her body.
“We will continue to so this, along with other church projects, every year,” Moalusi said.
