Messages from beyond at the spiritualist church

Join the Sanctuary of Infinite Light at their monthly clairvoyance evening.

“The alleged ability to gain information about an object, person, location or physical event through extrasensory perception.”

This is how Wikipdia explains clairvoyance.

The monthly clairvoyance evening at The Sanctuary of Infinite Light in Krugersdorp West delivered on the description.

Tears flowed as mediums delivered messages from loved ones who passed on – newcomers were dumb struck at what they saw and experienced.

“Back in the day these types of churches were associated with cults, but things are changing and more and more people are open minded about spiritual mediums,” Justin van Quickelberg, the sanctuary’s president, said.

Justin is one of the three mediums who “delivered messages” on Sunday night (31 January). As a teenager he realised that he could see things that other people could not.

Today, nearly 20 years later, he provides a sanctuary for those feel they need more.

Young and old faces graced the little church in Tanner Street. One of those faces is that of 24-year-old Samantha Koekemoer who lost her father four years ago.

“At first, my mother and I were very nervous about coming to the church, but we received a message from a medium that was so clear and spot on that we became permanent members,” she said.

Most members heard of The Sanctuary of Infinite Light through word of mouth and some have not left for more than 40 years.

“I have been involved with spiritualism for over 40 years,” Hanzel Jacobs, another medium, said.

“Back when I started it was though of as taboo. I had family and friends who judged me and attacked me because of my gift. It’s was just a misunderstanding,” he added.

At 6pm the members all took their seats prepared for the week’s service and month’s clairvoyance. This year, the church will see its 75th year of spiritualism.
