Body discovered in field
Local residents made a shocking discovery in a field full of dagga plants and weeds.
Police got more than they bargained for when they searched an open piece of land following a tip-off of a horrifying sighting.
Local residents who usually search the piece of landĀ for fire wood were shocked when they saw what looked like a body.
Members of the Tarlton and Krugersdorp police were sent to the area near the Sterkfontein Caves after a civilian reported the discovery of a decomposed body earlier this morning.
On arrival at a nearby shop, bystanders took police deep into the field to where the body had been spotted.
“It is unclear if the body is male or female due to its condition,” Tarlton Police spokesperson, Constable Lucky Matome said.

The decomposition indicates that the body has been lying there for quiet sometime, and bystanders speculated that the body may have been female due to the clothing found on it.
The body was discovered deep in the field among wild dagga plants and weeds as the Blougat stream flows through the area.
Matome confirmed that an inquest docket has been registered and the police are asking the community for information that could lead to the identification of the body.
